We are a family business based on our farm in Myddfai, near Llandovery that has been committed to providing a sustainable supply of firewood to Carmarthenshire, Powys and beyond for the past 20 years.
We were originally primarily a livestock farm but started selling a few logs to friends and neighbours around 1996. Since then our firewood sales have expanded and supplying firewood has now become an integral part of our business.
To help ensure a supply for the future we have now completed planting 55 acres of mixed hardwood trees including Ash, Oak, Hazel and Rowan in addition to our 50 acres of established woodland.
In total since 2004 we have planted over 50,000 trees and, with the aid of Brecon Beacons National park and the National grid, included two acres of specialist dormouse habitat which amongst other conservation work has seen us recommended for several management and habitat awards for our work with woodland which is something we endeavour to carry into our firewood production. This investment and management of our new and existing woodlands has secured a sustainable supply of firewood for the future. Click here to view our process…
In 2008 Swansea University produced a case study considering Fan Farms sustainable development. To read Safeguarding The Future please click here.
